Theyre getting harder and harder to find and youll usually have to go with versions 3-4 years old. I finally had to give up on my dual core G5 2 years ago. It still had PLENTY of power but unfortunately everyone stopped updating the PPC side of things (It was cause of PSP and Absynth 5 I had to get a new one). Scour ebay, be patient.
I grabbed a 2006 Mac Pro, for like $300 2 years ago. Granted I cant run 10.8 or 10.9 (until I get a new video card anyways) but this thing's still got plenty of juice in it, and hey at least I can update my plugins! You can grab newer ones for like $500 if you just wait em out. Theres always a loner auction or two that no one seems to notice you can score cheap on. Also, an iLok isnt gonna help if the plugins arent written and compiled for PPC. The iLok is only the license holder, if the actual plugin is Intel only, its Intel only. I've got a G5 with 10.5.8.
What kind of plugins are you looking for? Valhalla Vintage Verb is a good reverb for cheap that works, as well as the rest of the Valhalla stuff I believe. Bx solo and cleansweep are useful free plugins. Izotope vinyl is free and can be pretty cool. The only bundle I really use is the abbey road stuff.
There's stuff out there that will work, but I'd be hesitant to invest a bunch of money in a dying platform at this point. Basically anything i can get. I just need them for vocals So eqs reverb compressor, those are mainly what im after Izotope would be great also. I'm running an old power pc mac with 10.5.8 I'm using pro tools on it and im trying to find some decent plugins for it.
I know its old and im sure ill have to use older plugins. But i have none and no clue where to look or what to get.

If anyone can help that would be greatHey, what plugins did you end up going with? I'm in the same boat, just acquired a powerpc quad core for cheap and an mbox 2 (also for cheap) with the idea that I could run a nice little protools setup (I don't do anything crazy, just voiceover work and some music production every now and then), but am now finding that most of the plugins around don't want to work on it. Fearing I may have to bite the bullet and sink money into Waves.
